I bought a tshirt from @andotherstories on Kings road last week. When I got home and took it out of the bag, I noticed there was orange marks (makeup?) on the inside of the neck which grossed me out so I put it back in the bag and made a note to exchange it.

Today, less than a week later from purchase date, I went into the same store to exchange the product for a clean one. I approached the cashier with the product in the original bag (tags still attached) and my receipt. She informed me that she was New and would need the manage to do the exchange for me. 5 minutes later, the manager arrived at the desk, looked at the tshirt and the marks on it - and then said, "how do I know you didn't put these marks on the tshirt?"

I was shocked. I informed the manager that if the marks had been caused by myself trying the product on, I would have had no issue with simply washing it. But I was not happy with buying something that had clearly been worn or tried on by someone else! I was also disgusted that she was implying I would wear something and then try exchange it. The manager then began to argue with me - saying that as a customer, it is MY responsibility to check the products for marks before purchasing! I have never before been so insulted by a retail manager. Isn't it HER responsibility to put the customer first, and carry out an exchange or refund in good faith?

I told the manager that if she could not carry out the exchange as she seemed not to believe me and was suggesting that I - the customer - was lying, then I would leave the store and contact the head office to discuss. She then said: "fine, I will let you get away with it this time but normally, you can't exchange an item with makeup marks on it". Shocking and disgusting. Who speaks to customers like this? Especially when you consider that I had already paid for the item - and was simply exchanging it. I don't think I will visit this store again - they don't know how to deal with customers in a professional manner.
