- Jacob T. Rex Review added: 2018.01.10★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆It was like living in a homeless shelter. I've stayed in a few hostels in Europe, and most are filled with backpackers, a clean bed, and decent beer. The never ending parties till 3 am, the other guests that were borderline homeless, and uncleaned rooms ensured I woke up everyday and got out asap. I was only there to sleep.
The free cereal in the morning is great, but with no cutlery I had to use a butter knife I found in the sink for it.
The other guests never left the hostel, sleeping all day, never showering, being all around strange and obnoxious they'd obviously been there for weeks and lived there. Most places keep that kind of guest to a minimum but I came to the conclusion the Hootenanny was just happy to make a quick buck.
Brixton is lovely though, and the bar and concerts as a non-staying guest is fun. But trying to sleep when the floor is vibrating and you can hear the party all night isn't fun.
