    Stopped off at Big Moe's Diner to buy two take-away ice creams with my two guests from Germany. A lady member of staff told me that the cost of the ice cream is £1.75 per scoop. We though that this was a bit "pricey" for East London but ordered them regardless. When I was handed the bill I was amazed and extremely annoyed to find that we were charged an additional £0.75 for the wafer cone! Something I have never experienced in my 60+ years and having purchased ice cream cones in the many countries I have visited in the world. I complained to a male member of staff (possibly a manager) that I found the additional charge to be unacceptable and that we felt we were being ripped off, if we had known that an additional charge for a cone applied we would not have ordered anything. He initially said that this was a normal charge and was clearly shown in the price list which he proceeded to show us. I said that I did not accept that this practice was normal or acceptable and would ensure that I wrote a negative review of the establishment. He then said he was sorry that I was so annoyed and offered to refund the charge for the cone. In my view Big Moe's is more of a Big Rip-Off where profiteering is the norm rather than customer service. My advice is "Give it a miss".

    I would have liked to have given a positive review because I have enjoyed my previous visits to the Jenkins Lane branch however sadly this recent visit was not so good for the following reasons.

    Food seemed to take a while....so much so that while we were waiting one of the servers came over and asked what we would like for desert!

    While we were waiting my drink was brought to me whilst my colleagues was not. When he was halfway through his food he had to ask for his drink.

    Before paying we asked for the manager and brought these issues to her attention. Rather than properly acknowledging what had gone wrong we got a simple apology and a defence of I am sure you got your food within the 15 minute timeframe expected!

    We paid and left feeling unsatisfied with the experience and the response. I know someone who knows the owner. I will pass on a message of the need for some proper training. It was as if the staff had mentally checked out despite still being open!
