    Dani Bear Review added: 2018.09.15
At the end of last year, I sold my very first property - an apartment in Buckinghamshire, with Avon as my Freeholder.

After receiving our completed Management pack back from the managing agency of the apartment block, there were 2 sections unanswered, to which we were directed to the freeholder Avon to fill out. These sections were to confirm how much the ground rent for the property was, and to confirm that I was up to date with my ground rent payments.

My solicitor contacted Avon for this information, and was asked to pay £180 for this enquiry. After pushing back on this, Avon offered the information for £100....

Confused at the almost bartering nature of the charge for something that seemed so straight forward, I called Avon to enquire and to understand better the basis of the charge.

This is where I encountered Bella. I began the call by cheerily introducing myself, but before I could continue Bella immediately cut me off with an aggressive "I told your solicitor it's £100 if you want the information!"... Bella was rude, domineering, and extremely unprofessional throughout the entire call, irregardless of my warm approach. She continuously shouted over my questions around the fee telling me that "this was business" and that clearly I didn't work in "business" - a weak and belittling personal attack. She flippantly and in a manner meant to intimate me told me that this payment was the puzzle piece between me and my sale, and that if I didn't pay I'd lose the sale - "do you want to lose the sale?".

Once I was given the opportunity to speak, I asked if Bella could please confirm to me both the amount of my ground rent and whether or not I was up to date for my own personal records. Reluctantly, Bella confirmed both with a few key strokes.

The call ended not long after with Bella intentionally hanging up on me.

I reluctantly paid the £100 via my solicitor - reluctant not because I didn't understand that "this was business", but because of the disgusting way I was spoken to.

Unfortunately, because of this phone call, Bella decided to intentionally take her time in processes the information I needed (16 days), which delayed my sale even further.

Speaking professionally, I would ask that Avon reconsider their approach to customer service. Speaking personally, I'm thrilled I'll never have to face a barrage of abuse from Bella (the single 5 star reviewer on this page) again.

I have not rented from or let through these people, but am unlucky enough to live below a property that they do manage. The tenants there are the noisiest, rudest & most inconsiderate occupants that property has had in the near-20 years I've lived in my flat. Despite my repeated requests to Avon to ask them to keep the noise down, nothing has been done and their attitude has been either uncooperative or plain dismissive & on one occasion they actually refused to take any action about the constant noise. I would not trust these people to properly manage a garden shed. Also, when there was a leak from their property into mine, it took five days and as many 'phone calls to get it sorted.
